Redondo Beach, where there’s always more to Se! Home to the filming of the infamous Baywatch, Redondo Beach is an amazing place to live, work and play, I should know since I (Roma) raised my family here! There are two distinct parts of Redondo Beach – South Redondo and North Redondo. South Redondo Beach is home to King Harbor Marina, The Pier, and the gorgeous Hollywood Riviera, and has been a popular vacation destination since the 1880’s. The city is rich in cultural diversity and has one of the most distinguished largest high schools West of the Mississippi, Redondo Union High School. The Sand Section of South Redondo has spectacular homes overlooking the waterfront, and also offers “The Avenues” -original craftsman beach cottages, Spanish Mediterranean, and newer modern structure, and also home to the BEST Mexican food in all of the South Bay – LBJ’s – El Burrito Junior. South Redondo is also the home to the Women Streets, running north/southwhich are fondly named after the descendants of Manuel Dominguez, the original landholder – Catalina, Elena, Francisca, Gertruda, Guadalupe, Helberta, Irena, Juanita, Lucia, Maria, Paulina and Susana. Running east/west are the gemstone streets, named after the gemstone rocks found at the beautiful Moonstone Beach – Agate, Beryl (pronounced Berl), Carnelian, Diamond, Emerald, Garnet, Jasper, Opal, Pearl, Ruby, Sapphire and Topaz.
North Redondo is quite different from South Redondo. Sitting East of Manhattan Beach and Hermosa Beach, it’s much closer to the freeway and Metro station, and is a favorite to families as well as employees of the Aerospace industry. You’ll find more two and three on a lot homes here than any other city in the South Bay, making the price points more attractive with split parcels and new construction. Most of the homes have inactive HOA’s, where the maintenance of the home is shouldered by the owner of each property. North Redondo is a great place to raise a family, with many parks, schools and shopping nearby. The streets are named after American tycoons of the time – Carnegie, Fisk, Gould, Grant, Harriman, Huntington, Mackay, Rockefeller, Vanderbilt and more! Freeway and Metro accessible, it makes for a great South Bay location, and don’t forget there’s an In-N-Out within reach!
